Commendations for ICT Industry Contributors Including Innowell
The Ministry of Science and ICT held the '2024 ICT Device Industry Festival' on the 11th at the Science and Technology Convention Center to review the present and future of the information and communication technology (ICT) device industry and share its achievements so far.
At this event, excellent products in the fields of computing, networking, and 3D printing were introduced, trends in each sector of the ICT device industry were examined, and the efforts of distinguished contributors who have significantly contributed to each industrial sector were recognized.
In the keynote speech, Baek Kyung-hoon, Director of LG AI Research Institute, presented on the industrial paradigm shift brought by on-device artificial intelligence (AI) and the future of the ICT device industry.
At the opening ceremony, Lee Kyung-rok, Head of the SW Future Headquarters at the National IT Industry Promotion Agency, delivered the opening remarks, followed by congratulatory speeches from Song Sang-hoon, Director of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Park Cheong-won, President of the 3D Convergence Industry Association. Awards were also presented to organizations and individuals who developed outstanding products and contributed to the growth and expansion of the domestic ICT device industry.
Kim Sung-soo, CEO of Inowell, who developed and supplied domestically produced memory semiconductor test mainboards; Lee Joon-sung, Executive Director at LG Electronics, who contributed to the localization of 5G network solutions for the advancement of the network equipment industry; and Professor Yoon Choong-sik of the Graduate School of Public Health at Seoul National University, who contributed to the establishment of international standards for 3D printing safety evaluation to create a safe environment for 3D printing, received commendations from the Minister of Science and ICT.
At the exhibition, 25 booths were set up across various ICT fields such as computing, networking, and 3D printing, showcasing computing equipment usable for on-device AI, network equipment, and guidelines to ensure 3D printing safety.
Director Song stated, "On-device AI is being integrated into almost all areas of ICT hardware, including PCs, mobile devices, robots, and home appliances," and added, "We will actively support technology development, industrial growth, and market acquisition to accelerate the growth of the domestic on-device AI industry."
