Seoul City will increase subway operations and provide emergency transport vehicles free of charge for test-takers on the day of the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) on the 14th.

On the 11th, the city announced a comprehensive plan to create a comfortable transportation environment around the test sites. In the Seoul area, 110,734 test-takers will take the CSAT at 226 test centers.

Subway and Bus Services Intensified on Suneung Day... 'Emergency Transport Vehicles' Also Deployed Around Stations On the 16th, the day of the 2024 College Scholastic Ability Test, examinees are moving to the exam site at Yeouido Girls' High School in Seoul.

First, to prevent traffic congestion on the CSAT day, the start time for work at city offices, autonomous districts, and government agencies will be adjusted to 10 a.m., one hour later than usual. Additionally, the number of subway runs will be increased by 31 trips compared to normal, with concentrated dispatch between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sixteen reserve trains have also been prepared in case of train malfunctions or other emergencies.

City and village buses will be dispatched intensively considering both the time for entering the test sites and returning home after the exam. On the test day, buses will operate at minimum intervals between 6 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. and between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Accordingly, during non-peak dispatch times, intervals between buses may be longer than usual.

Subway stations near test sites will have notices related to the test posted. Announcements guiding passengers to the test site exits will also be made. Buses passing by test sites will display guidance signs on their front windshields, and drivers will provide verbal guidance when passengers disembark at nearby stops.

Each autonomous district will prepare 676 'Test-taker Transport Support Vehicles' for emergency situations. These vehicles will wait near subway stations, bus stops, and major intersections close to test sites and will provide free rides to test-takers who are at risk of being late.

Disabled call taxis will also be prioritized for test-takers. The Seoul Facilities Corporation has decided to prioritize dispatching taxis registered with the Seoul Disabled Call Taxi service to assist test-takers before and after the exam. Reservations have been accepted since the 5th through the customer center, and even if a reservation was not made, disabled test-takers can still receive priority dispatch upon request on the test day.

The city plans to temporarily halt inspections and construction activities that cause noise near the test sites during the CSAT. Cooperation has also been requested from transportation associations to prevent buses and taxis from honking or making noise through sudden starts and stops.

Yoon Jong-jang, Director of Transportation at Seoul City, said, "This year as well, we will provide comprehensive transportation convenience so that test-takers can fully concentrate on the exam and achieve their desired results." He added, "We ask families and acquaintances of test-takers to support a quiet atmosphere with silent encouragement, and we also request general citizens to actively cooperate by adjusting work hours and using public transportation."
