LG Energy Solution will supply batteries for power supply to SpaceX's spacecraft. It is considered a significant achievement that LG Energy Solution's batteries are installed in SpaceX, which is leading the 'New Space' era of private space development, an industry that demands high-quality components such as safety and longevity.

According to industry sources on the 10th, LG Energy Solution recently agreed to supply auxiliary power and power supply batteries for SpaceX's 'Starship' spacecraft scheduled for next year. LG Energy Solution has been supplying batteries to SpaceX for several years, and the supply scale has expanded, bringing this supply fact to light. The supplied product is cylindrical lithium-ion batteries.

LG Energy Solution is officially entering the space industry sector, which has stringent supply conditions. The engine temperature of spacecraft exceeds 3000 degrees Celsius, and the surface temperature rises up to 2000 degrees Celsius. Therefore, the batteries provided to spacecraft must have durability to supply power in extreme environments. LG Energy Solution appears to have passed such rigorous quality tests.

In 2016, LG Energy Solution was selected as a supplier of lithium-ion batteries for NASA's space exploration spacesuits. Last year, it also underwent safety evaluations to determine the suitability of its batteries for use in NASA's manned spacecraft.

Collaboration with Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is also expected to expand. LG Energy Solution has been supplying batteries for Tesla electric vehicles. Regarding the battery supply to SpaceX, an LG Energy Solution official stated, "It is difficult to confirm details related to contracts with customers."
