On the 9th, marking the 62nd Firefighters' Day, both ruling and opposition parties expressed their gratitude for the hard work of firefighters in unison and promised to improve their working conditions.

Choo Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, wrote on his social media (SNS) Facebook account that "the safety of firefighting heroes is the safety of the people of the Republic of Korea," emphasizing, "We will strengthen effective support for firefighters' safety, including equipment supply and health management, and always pay attention to improving the treatment of firefighting personnel."

Choo also added, "We will take the lead in elevating the honor of uniformed heroes such as firefighters, police officers, and soldiers, and in creating a culture where heroes are respected."

Yoon Hee-seok, senior spokesperson, also stated in a commentary, "Our party promised in the last general election pledge to realize the actual conditions of allowances for firefighting officials and to improve welfare and working environments," adding, "We will implement this through legislation and budget."

Yoon further pledged, "We will also take the lead in preparing related measures so that they can focus solely on safe rescue activities at disaster sites," promising, "In particular, we will expand the budget for fire suppression safety equipment support to replace outdated firefighting facilities and quickly supply advanced equipment."

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, praised firefighters as "true heroes who, even in the face of fierce flames, embrace precious lives and revive even the dying sparks of life," saying, "Having experienced urgent situations between life and death, I deeply realize that our everyday lives are indebted to your daily sacrifices."

Lee emphasized, "We will fulfill political responsibility to protect both the lives of the people and those of firefighters," and added, "We will repay the dedication of firefighters by making Korea a safe country."

Yoon Jong-gun, floor spokesperson, stated in a commentary, "We will definitely protect the disaster safety budget directly related to public safety against the Yoon Seok-yeol administration's 'ultra-rich tax cuts' policy," emphasizing, "We will also do our best to create an environment where firefighting families can focus solely on protecting the lives and safety of the people."

He added, "In particular, we will surely establish measures to solidify support fitting for the nationalization of firefighting officials, modernize firefighting equipment, and institutionalize a national responsibility system for firefighters' health," concluding, "The Democratic Party will firmly support all firefighting families who protect the people."
