Gapyeong-gun Supports Winter Firewood for Heating to Vulnerable Groups

Delivery of Firewood Equivalent to 12 1-Ton Trucks to 12 Households Including Basic Livelihood Security Recipients

Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi Province (Governor Seo Tae-won) announced on the 8th that it has provided winter heating firewood equivalent to 12 1-ton trucks to 12 vulnerable households in the area.

This firewood support is part of the annual Gapyeong-gun forest management project, recycling forest by-products generated for healthy forest management. The firewood produced by autumn wildfire monitors was processed and distributed at the storage yard of the Gapyeong-gun Forestry Cooperative through cooperation, and then delivered to each household.

The support targets households selected by the towns and townships among the vulnerable groups who use firewood as fuel. Considering that most recipients are elderly or have mobility difficulties, the county directly delivered firewood to each household.

Gapyeong-gun plans to continue policies that efficiently utilize forest management by-products with consideration for the environment and welfare. Through this, it aims to raise awareness of the importance of forest resources among residents and create a warm and eco-friendly Gapyeong community.

Park Jeong-seon, Director of the Forestry Division, said, “Recycling forest management by-products saves resources and contributes to environmental protection, which is very meaningful,” adding, “This event goes beyond simple firewood support and will serve as an opportunity to present sustainable utilization methods of forest by-products, contributing to the energy independence of the local community.”
