Scheduled to Reappear on the Morning of the 9th
Myeong Tae-gyun, a key figure in the cases involving First Lady Kim Geon-hee's 'alleged interference in candidate selection' and the Future Korea Research Institute's 'illegal opinion poll allegations,' completed about eight hours of prosecution investigation.
Myeong entered the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office building around 10 a.m. on the 8th and finished the investigation around 6 p.m., leaving the building.
After the investigation, when reporters asked what parts he clarified, he said, "There are two mountains of lies in this case," adding, "The (false) mountains built by Newstomato and Kang Hye-kyung, who was the accounting manager for former lawmaker Kim Young-sun, will be dismantled one by one as investigations proceed."
He also said, "In a democratic republic, all power comes from the people," and "False reports that blind the eyes and ears of the people and the broadcast panelists who spread them are the Ten Eunuchs of our era."
Later, when reporters asked if he had communicated with the president after the inauguration or how he came to know the First Lady, he replied, "I have another investigation tomorrow, so I will tell you later," and left.
Contrary to expectations that the investigation would be lengthy, Myeong ended the investigation somewhat early due to health reasons.
Myeong's lawyer stated, "Since yesterday, Myeong has had severe flu symptoms and his legs are very uncomfortable, making it difficult to sit in a chair for a long time."
Myeong is scheduled to appear again at the Changwon District Prosecutors' Office at 9:30 a.m. on the 9th for further investigation.
The prosecution is known to have generally confirmed the charges against Myeong as stated in the search and seizure warrant on that day.
