Request for Cooperation on Cancer Surgery and Radiation Therapy Technologies
Representatives from hospitals in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, visited the Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center (Director Lee Chang-hoon) on the 7th to discuss specific cooperation matters such as the exchange of the latest treatment technologies, personnel training, and referral of cancer patients.
The Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center, as part of a foreign patient attraction project jointly promoted by Busan City and the Busan Economic Promotion Agency, visited Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, last October and signed agreements on medical technology exchange and clinical cooperation with Mongolia's 3rd National Hospital and AllergyMed Hospital.
They also held B2B consultations with seven local Mongolian agencies to build networks and inform them about the medical services. At that time, representatives from Mongolian hospitals showed great interest in the center’s radiation therapy, intensive cancer treatment, and reasonable medical fees compared to the metropolitan area, leading to a revisit within a month.
The visiting delegation included Oyunbat Choidog, an orthopedic specialist from Mongolia’s 1st National Hospital; Narangerel Enkhtaivan; Tumur Khuyag Gerelchimeg, a specialist from Mongolia’s 3rd National Hospital; Ayush Tsogtsetseg, director of AllergyMed Hospital; Amarjargal Baldandorj, CEO of BUNDA Clinic; Javzandulam Ulziisaikhan, CEO of Vitamin Tree LLC; and Naranbat Nyamdavaa, CEO of Gyals Medical Center.
Lee Chang-hoon, director of the Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center, said, “I am very pleased to meet again after just one month. The center is a national cancer hospital specialized in advanced cancer treatments including radiation therapy, surgery, radioactive isotope therapy, and targeted anticancer therapy, with accumulated treatment know-how. We will actively cooperate to help many citizens of Ulaanbaatar, which is just a four-hour direct flight from Busan, protect their precious lives and overcome cancer.”
Ayush Tsogtsetseg, director of AllergyMed Hospital and former Minister of Health and Welfare, said, “There will likely be many opportunities to receive support in cancer screening and treatment. I am also very interested in the Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Center to be established at the Southeast Regional Radiation Medicine Center in March next year. After visiting in person, I am confident that patients can receive care with peace of mind because of the excellent medical staff, large hospital scale, and good facilities.”
Oyunbat Choidog, planning director and orthopedic specialist at Mongolia’s 1st National Hospital, said, “The 1st National Hospital is the best cancer treatment hospital in Mongolia. Following the Mongolian government’s policy, we are cooperating to enable other hospitals to actively perform cancer surgeries and treatments. We have great interest in Korea’s cutting-edge radiation therapy and latest cancer treatment technologies and wish to acquire medical knowledge. We hope to establish a closer cooperative relationship in the future. Our hospital also welcomes visits anytime.”
Afterwards, the delegation toured facilities such as the screening center, radiation oncology, and nuclear medicine departments, and discussed practical matters including patient cases, collaborative treatment methods, and insurance processing.
