Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and regarded as a key figure in Donald Trump's presidential victory, has a transgender daughter who hinted at the possibility of leaving the country, saying "there is no future in the United States anymore."
According to the American media outlet 'Politico' on the 7th (local time), Musk's daughter Vivian Jenna Wilson posted on the social networking service (SNS) 'Threads' the day before, saying, "I have been thinking about this for a while, but yesterday gave me certainty," and added, "I don't think my future is in the United States." Having transitioned from male to female, she emphasized, "Even if he (Trump) only serves another four years, even if anti-trans regulations don't magically appear, the people who willingly voted for this (transgender regulations) will not go anywhere."
Wilson's indication of possibly leaving the U.S. is interpreted as a response to Trump's consistently hostile stance toward sexual minorities. During the presidential campaign, Trump expressed opposition to sexual minorities by pledging to restrict 'gender identity confirmation treatments' such as transgender hormone therapy or surgery and banning transgender women from participating in women's sports teams.
Wilson is one of five children born to Elon Musk and writer Justine Wilson, who married in 2000 and divorced eight years later. She had conflicts with her father Musk during her gender transition process. In an interview in July this year, Musk expressed anger, saying, "I do not support my daughter's gender identity," and that his daughter was "killed" by 'woke' ideology. Wilson changed her name and abandoned her father's surname due to the discord with Musk.
Meanwhile, Musk, who is credited with playing a major role in Trump's re-election, is expected to serve as chairman of the Government Efficiency Committee, which proposes reform recommendations to the government. Musk directly established and operated the super PAC (political action committee) 'America PAC' to support Trump's election and is reported to have spent at least $132 million (approximately 184 billion KRW), including support for Republican candidates running for the House and Senate elections.
