Pet Culture Classes Held on the 16th and 23rd
The city of Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) announced on the 8th that it will conduct ‘Companion Dog Walking Education’ with companion dog families at the Peace Square in front of City Hall on the 16th and 23rd.
This education is part of the ‘Companion Animal Culture Classroom Project’ and was prepared to alleviate conflicts between pet owners and non-pet owners caused by the increase in companion dog households, and to establish a proper companion dog walking culture.
The main education contents include basic public etiquette for companion animals such as animal registration, leash wearing, and waste collection, along with problem behavior correction and practical training on walking techniques.
Thirty companion dog families who have completed animal registration and rabies vaccination will be recruited, and applications can be made via a QR code. If the number of applicants exceeds the limit, participants will be selected by random computer drawing and individually notified.

Choi Hyun-mi, head of the Urban Agriculture Division, said, “Through this education, we hope to enhance the caregiving capabilities of pet owners and achieve safe and happy coexistence between non-pet owners and pet owners,” adding, “We will continue to prepare various companion animal education programs to establish a mature companion animal culture.”
