SNT Dynamics Launches Korea's First Independent Development of 'Ultra-Large Autonomous Driving Mobility Platform'

Completion of 70t-class Development by 2027, Full-Scale Mass Production Begins

SNT Dynamics has embarked on the independent development of the next-generation ultra-large autonomous driving mobility platform, the first of its kind in Korea.

They plan to complete the development of a 70-ton class autonomous driving mobility platform for construction logistics by 2027 and begin full-scale mass production.

SNT Dynamics, selected as the lead organization for the national development project in this field, held a kickoff meeting for development at the end of October and started the platform development.

According to the company, this platform is a next-generation electrified driving system used for large-capacity multipurpose logistics mobility such as construction, ports, aviation, and IGVs (Intelligent Guided Vehicles).

It incorporates future core technologies such as autonomous driving through a cloud-based control system, AI-based driving algorithms, and cooperative autonomous driving between vehicles.

Since its establishment in 1959, SNT Dynamics has developed and produced powertrains including ultra-precision automatic transmissions for defense tracked vehicles, large-caliber artillery, transmissions for trucks and buses, and axles.

Based on the accumulated technological expertise from achievements such as the world's first 6-speed automatic transmission for heavy tanks with 1500~1700 horsepower, Korea's first CNC controller for machine tools, and Korea's first e-Drive unit for GM electric vehicle Bolt, the company plans to lead the next-generation ultra-large autonomous driving mobility industry ecosystem.

In particular, with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), SNT Dynamics plans to enhance development efficiency and completeness by combining intellectual property with specialized academic, industrial, and research institutions related to future industrial technologies such as autonomous driving and AI.

An SNT Dynamics official stated, “The ultra-large autonomous driving mobility platform market is expected to reach 2 trillion KRW domestically and 50 trillion KRW globally, equivalent to 40 billion USD, over the next decade. We will enhance our development capabilities as a specialized electrified powerpack module company within the autonomous driving mobility industry ecosystem and accelerate innovation as a global top engineering company focused on research and development in the 2030s.”
