The need to expand education related to artificial intelligence (AI), a future food source and key industry of Gwangju City, has been raised.

On the 7th, Chae Eun-ji, a member of the Gwangju City Council (Democratic Party, proportional representation), stated during an administrative audit of the Gwangju Talent Education Center, "Gwangju City needs to expand and provide related education to advance as an AI leading city."

Councilor Chae pointed out, "In the past three years, the AI education at the city's Talent Education Center was only held twice a year, totaling six sessions, and even those were limited to basic levels such as 'The Future of AI Seen Through Movies' and 'Understanding and Utilizing Government-wide Office Tools.'"

She continued, "I urge the Talent Education Center to transform into an institution that understands various social issues and future trends such as the 4th Industrial Revolution and provides the ability to actively respond to administrative changes."

In response, Yeom Bang-yeol, head of the Talent Education Center, said, "I agree with the criticism, but there are limitations in creating an educational environment and budget to provide AI-related education."

Councilor Chae emphasized, "As Gwangju City is focusing on key industries such as the establishment of an AI demonstration valley, AI semiconductor leading city, and mobility special zone, public officials must also develop expertise to respond to the rapidly changing AI industry," adding, "The Talent Education Center must actively respond in line with this."
