Goyang City Wraps Up Village Community Network Dialogue Meeting

Completion of Six Dialogue Meetings with the 6th Gathering... Pursuing a Sustainable Community

Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 7th that it has concluded six village community dialogue meetings with the 6th meeting of the Goyang City Village Community Network held on the 5th.

The 6th dialogue meeting, held at ‘Gwansan-dong Village Happiness Warehouse,’ a shared village space in Gwansan-dong, focused on the theme of ‘Village Communities Responding to the Climate Crisis.’ Participants took time to reflect together on village activities that village communities can undertake through resource circulation activity cases from Goyang City and Gwangmyeong City.

In Gwansan-dong, Goyang City, the village community, Gyeonggi Happy Village Management Office, and the Residents’ Autonomous Committee jointly conduct activities to create a resource circulation village. They actively promote residents’ interest in resource circulation through environmental education at local elementary schools, operation of pilot zones for waste separation, and resource circulation markets.

Hadam Social Cooperative in Gwangmyeong City plays a role in linking village agendas in Ha-an 4-dong to village projects, such as PET bottle cap upcycling, operating a zero-waste shop, carbon neutrality campaigns, and training environmental village instructors.

A participant in the dialogue meeting expressed, “I realized once again that the village community practicing various activities related to resource circulation is an act of saving ourselves.”

An official from the Autonomous Community Support Center, which planned this dialogue meeting, stated, “In 2025, we plan to continuously hold community dialogue meetings to expand the network of village communities in Goyang City,” and urged many Goyang citizens to show interest and participate.
