GE Vernova Installs 'HA Gas Turbine' at Tongyeong LNG Power Plant

Providing Maintenance Services for the Next 17 Years

GE Vernova announced on the 7th that the Tongyeong Eco Power Tongyeong LNG Power Plant, which has started commercial operation, is equipped with HA gas turbines and is in operation.

This power plant is a 1-gigawatt (GW) scale LNG power plant located in the Anjeong National Industrial Complex in Tongyeong-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, producing electricity capable of supplying power to approximately 1 million households in Korea.

GE Vernova supplied two 7HA.02 gas turbines, one STF-D600 steam turbine, two heat recovery steam generators (HRSG), and three H65 generators, and will also provide maintenance services for the next 17 years.

GE Vernova supplied 7HA.02 gas turbines and STF-D650 steam turbines to the Naepo Combined Heat and Power Plant, a district heating power plant located in Naepo New Town. At the Korea Southern Power Shin Sejong Combined Cycle Power Plant, the world’s highest efficiency 7HA.03 gas turbine was introduced, supplying district heating to Sejong City and generating electricity.

The HA gas turbine can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 3.3 metric tons (M/T) per unit annually compared to fossil fuel power plants. Replacing an old coal power plant of the same scale with one HA gas turbine is equivalent to removing about 680,000 cars from the roads.

A GE Vernova official predicted, "If new advanced technologies like HA gas turbines are introduced to coal power plants in Korea, the carbon intensity per kilowatt hour of fossil fuel power plants could be reduced by more than three times the current level."
