Gyeonggi-do Blind Welfare Center Successfully Hosts 'Gyeonggi-do Visually Impaired Hangung Tournament'

Creating a Space for Visually Impaired and Local Residents to Connect Through 'Hangung'

The Gyeonggi-do Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired (Director Yang Soon-bun, hereinafter referred to as the Welfare Center) announced on the 7th that the "3rd Gyeonggi-do Visually Impaired Hangung Competition," hosted and organized by the center, was successfully held on the 5th at the auditorium of the Yangju City Disabled Welfare Center.

A total of 200 participants, including visually impaired Hangung players from 14 regions of Gyeonggi-do, took part in this "3rd Gyeonggi-do Visually Impaired Hangung Competition," and Yangju Mayor Kang Soo-hyun attended, further enhancing the event.


The competition, which laid an important foundation for visually impaired individuals to actively enjoy sports activities in the local community, concluded with Kim Sung-won (Ansan City) winning the individual blind division, Lee Hyo-min (Anyang City) winning the individual low vision division, and the Ansan City team winning the team event.


Yang Soon-bun, director of the Gyeonggi-do Welfare Center for the Visually Impaired, stated, "As the only specialized institution for the visually impaired in Gyeonggi-do, celebrating its 11th anniversary this year, we will continue to support leisure and cultural services based on the needs of the visually impaired through meaningful events like the 'Hangung Competition,' promote the activation of visiting sports activities for the visually impaired, expand outreach services, and do our best in developing various policies for the welfare advancement of the visually impaired."
