Gyeonggi Suwon City will conduct the '2024 Household and Housing Basic Survey' targeting all households in the area from the 8th to the 27th of this month.
This survey covers all dwellings, including vacant houses, and targets 326,082 households. The inspection items include 14 categories such as ▲type of dwelling ▲presence of rooftop or (semi-)basement ▲whether it is an agricultural, forestry, or fishery household ▲form of residential facility, etc. However, apartments built between 5 and less than 30 years ago are excluded from the survey.
The survey will be conducted on-site by about 110 personnel, and some households will be surveyed through face-to-face interviews using tablet PCs or by telephone.
Organized by Statistics Korea and conducted every five years, the Household and Housing Basic Survey collects basic information on all dwellings and households nationwide. It serves as population data for setting survey districts and constructing sampling frames for the 2025 Population and Housing Census and the Agricultural, Forestry, and Fishery Census.
Suwon City conducted training on October 15-16 for survey personnel, including field survey guidelines and safety rules, practice in filling out survey forms for various cases, and hands-on training on electronic surveys (CAPI) using tablet PCs.
A Suwon City official stated, "This survey is an important foundation for the large-scale census in 2025," and added, "We ask for the active cooperation of all citizens."
