From January to October this year, about 70% of all Air Busan passengers departing from Taiwan were Taiwanese nationals.
In the third quarter, departures from Kaohsiung approached 90%, with Air Busan ranking first in market share for Taiwan routes at Gimhae Airport.
Air Busan is leading the revitalization of inbound tourism by transporting more than 10,000 Taiwanese tourists to Korea every month.
Air Busan (CEO Doo Sung-guk) announced on the 7th that from January to October this year, approximately 108,000 Taiwanese tourists used Air Busan’s two Taiwan routes (Taipei and Kaohsiung) to enter through Gimhae Airport. This accounts for about 70% of the total 155,000 passengers on Air Busan’s Taiwan-origin flights.
The quarterly proportion of Taiwanese tourists entering Korea via Air Busan’s Taiwan-origin flights has also been increasing, with approximately 59% in Q1, about 70% in Q2, and around 76% in Q3. In particular, the number of Taiwanese tourists on Air Busan’s Kaohsiung-origin flights in Q3 this year reached nearly 90% of total passengers, according to an Air Busan official.
This year, Air Busan holds the highest passenger share on Taiwan routes at Gimhae Airport among all airlines operating these routes. Recently, a sister airport partnership agreement was signed between Korea Airports Corporation’s Gimhae Airport and Taiwan’s Kaohsiung Airport, and it is expected that route activation centered on Air Busan and the attraction of Taiwanese inbound tourists will gain further momentum.
An Air Busan official stated, “As a result of operating the Taiwan routes steadily for over 10 years, Air Busan’s brand awareness is leading to the choice of our flights not only among domestic travelers but also Taiwanese tourists.” He added, “We will fulfill our necessary role in revitalizing the local economy and tourism industry by attracting inbound foreign tourists.”
For this winter season, Air Busan will operate two round-trip flights daily on the Busan-Taipei route and one round-trip flight daily on the Busan-Kaohsiung route.
