Decision After 3-Hour Marathon Disciplinary Committee Meeting
Violation of Duty of Dignity Recognized, Minor Harm Warning Issued
Kim Joo-hyung, who damaged a locker room door, received a warning from the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA).
On the 6th, KPGA held a disciplinary committee meeting at the KPGA building in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and issued a warning to Kim Joo-hyung. The decision was made after a marathon meeting lasting nearly three hours. Shin Hee-taek, chairman of the disciplinary committee, stated, "The player expressed his emotions inappropriately and damaged property. This is recognized as a violation of the duty to maintain dignity as a player. However, since the extent of the property damage was not significant and the golf course did not consider it a major issue, a warning was issued."
Kim Joo-hyung damaged a locker room door after finishing as runner-up to An Byeong-hoon in a playoff at the Genesis Championship, a co-sanctioned event by the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour) and the KPGA Tour, held last month on the 27th at Jack Nicklaus Korea Golf Club in Songdo, Incheon. Kim said, "It is true that I was frustrated after the playoff loss, but I never intentionally damaged the locker room. I sincerely apologize to those I disappointed."
