More than 60 participants from organizations involved in the Life Respect Safe Village and related institutions attended the event to share information on the current suicide status in Gwangju City, achievements and cases related to life respect, and the business plan for 2025.

The Life Respect Safe Village is an integrated suicide prevention project at the eup, myeon, and dong levels that utilizes community resources and networks across six sectors (healthcare, education, welfare, distribution and sales, community, and public services) to establish a social safety net for suicide prevention and foster a culture of life respect.

This year, the city designated 18 institutions (medical institutions, pharmacies, marts, schools, etc.) across two regions, and plans to expand to five regions by 2025.

Participating organizations continue to carry out suicide prevention activities such as ▲identifying and connecting high-risk groups for suicide ▲suicide prevention awareness campaigns ▲life keeper education ▲blocking means of suicide, contributing to the establishment of a suicide prevention safety net.

A Gwangju City official stated, “We will strive to enhance the effectiveness of suicide prevention projects by utilizing community resources and networks, and gradually expand the Life Respect Safe Village to create a Gwangju City safe from suicide.”
