Guidance on Essential Duties and Training Courses
Program Composition Including the Mental Health Care Act
Changwon Metropolitan City in Gyeongnam has taken steps to support newly appointed public officials as they take their first steps in public service.
On the 5th, the city conducted a ‘Second Half New Appointee Public Officials Orientation’ for 32 public officials newly appointed as of November 4th to help them adapt to public service life.
This orientation program was designed to help rookie public officials adapt well to their new environment by introducing the current status of Changwon Metropolitan City’s administration, essential duties and training courses required for public service, welfare programs, and education on mental health and stress management methods.
In particular, unlike previous orientations, the program focused on introducing the basic competencies required as public officials and how the corresponding training courses are structured, emphasizing educational policies aimed at the rapid adaptation of new officials and their growth into key talents leading the city’s development.
Additionally, there was time to learn methods for taking care of one’s physical and mental health, including stress management techniques for stable organizational life.
Through this newly structured orientation, the city hopes that rookie public officials will adapt more easily to public service life, and plans to continuously develop new programs that can also soothe the minds of MZ generation public officials beyond just new appointees.
Shim Dong-seop, Director of the Autonomous Administration Bureau, said, “We will provide unwavering support so that newly appointed public officials can quickly adapt to public service life and maintain healthy bodies and minds while working in the organization,” adding, “We once again extend a warm welcome to the new employees who will become the future key talents of Changwon City as they take their first steps.”
Meanwhile, since January, Changwon Metropolitan City has conducted three orientation sessions for a total of 177 new appointees to help them adapt to public service life.
