LS E-Link Signs Main Contract for Electric Yard Tractor Charging Project at Incheon New Port

Expansion into the Port Market

LS Group's electric vehicle charging infrastructure subsidiary, LS E-Link, announced on the 6th that it recently signed a main contract with Seongwang Shin Container Terminal (SNCT) for 'collaboration on electric equipment charging business within the port.' Through this contract, the charging business for the electrification of yard tractors (special vehicles dedicated to container transport) operated by Seongwang Shin Container Terminal will be actively pursued.

Seongwang Shin Container Terminal plans to convert 44 yard tractors operating at Incheon New Port to electric vehicles within three years. To this end, it will establish charging infrastructure together with LS E-Link within this year.

Through this agreement, replacing existing diesel yard tractors with electric vehicles is expected to contribute to reducing air pollution and carbon emissions within the port. LS E-Link and Seongwang Shin Container Terminal also agreed to jointly promote new power businesses linked with renewable energy such as energy storage systems (ESS) and solar power generation in the future.

This contract is significant in that LS E-Link has expanded its electric vehicle charging infrastructure customers from existing transportation and logistics companies to the port market. In ports, there are various transport devices such as yard tractors, Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV), and Automated Lifting Vehicles (ALV), so the electrification and expansion of charging infrastructure for these devices are also anticipated.

Kim Dae-geun, CEO of LS E-Link, said, "LS E-Link possesses the capability to operate large-capacity fleet charging stations and various B2B charging solutions," adding, "Based on this, we will expand our scope to port charging infrastructure and the future mobility market."

Jung Guk-wi, CEO of Seongwang Shin Container Terminal, stated, "We will pursue sustainable growth through the establishment of an eco-friendly port system," and added, "The introduction of electric yard tractors will contribute not only to the digitalization and automation of the port industry but also to the improvement of working conditions."
