Professor Lee Chang-jun of National Pukyong University Awarded Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation on Chemical Industry Day

Professor Changjun Lee (Department of Safety Engineering) at Pukyong National University received a commendation from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy at the 16th Chemical Industry Day ceremony.

Professor Lee Chang-jun of Pukyong National University, who received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Commendation at the 16th Chemical Industry Day Ceremony.

At the ceremony held on October 31 at The Plaza Hotel in Seoul, Professor Lee was recognized for his contributions to national and social development through the advancement of the chemical industry.

Chemical Industry Day is an annual commemorative event held since 2009 to celebrate October 31, 1972, the day the Ulsan Petrochemical Complex, the foundation of the domestic chemical industry, was completed.

Professor Lee was acknowledged for his active research in chemical process monitoring, optimization, and process safety using big data and various artificial intelligence techniques, contributing to technological development and strengthening international competitiveness in the chemical industry.

In particular, he developed a reserve tank system to minimize the impact of chemical accidents and applied it in industrial sites, contributing to public safety and improved quality of life. He has also contributed to enhancing safety in advanced industrial fields by proposing solutions through mathematical modeling to address challenges related to chemical process safety.

In addition to this commendation, Professor Lee has been recognized for his excellent education, research, and social contribution achievements in the chemical industry by receiving awards such as the 32nd Excellent Science and Technology Paper Award from the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies, the Beomseok Paper Award from the Korean Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the Academic Paper Award from the Korean Society of Safety.
