UNIST Leadership Center Hosts the 10th Ulju-gun STEM Career Experience

July 7-8 and 15, Over 2,000 Middle School Students in Ulju-gun Participate in STEM Experiments and Practice

Exploring STEM Departments with UNIST Mentors... The First Step in Career Exploration

The UNIST Leadership Center, led by President Jongrae Park, will host the "10th Ulju-gun STEM Career Experience" on campus over three days: the 7th, 8th, and 15th.

Organized by Ulju-gun, this event provides local middle school students with hands-on opportunities to experience STEM subjects and experiments, aiming to increase their interest in science and technology.

Approximately 2,000 first-year students from 15 middle schools in Ulju-gun will participate, with 95 UNIST students serving as mentors. Sixteen departments will operate 18 experience booths, where students can engage in experiments and majors offered by UNIST, enhancing their concrete understanding of STEM fields.

The student mentors will support middle school students' career exploration based on their academic knowledge and leadership skills. Through conversations with mentors, students are expected to contemplate and concretize career paths suitable for themselves.

A representative from the Leadership Center stated, "We hope the STEM career experience will stimulate young people's scientific curiosity and become an important turning point in their career exploration. UNIST will continue to operate various programs in cooperation with the local community to nurture future talents."

UNIST is working with Ulju-gun Office, Ulsan City Hall, and Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education to foster local talent. This career experience is one of several programs, and over the past 13 years, more than 29,000 youths and 2,600 student mentors have participated, strengthening the bond between UNIST and the local community.
