Samcheok-si Selects Four Recipients for the '2024 Samcheok-si Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Awards'

Gangwon Special Autonomous Province Samcheok City (Mayor Park Sang-su) announced on the 6th that it has finalized the four recipients of the ‘2024 Samcheok City Agricultural, Forestry, and Fisheries Workers Award,’ which is given to agricultural, forestry, and fisheries workers who have played a leading role in enhancing the quality and high value-added competitiveness of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products, thereby creating high income and contributing to the development of Samcheok’s rural and agricultural communities.

The award categories are divided into four sectors: Agricultural Promotion, Livestock Promotion, Forestry Promotion, and Fisheries Promotion. The final selection was made through a judging committee to ensure fairness.

The recipient of the Agricultural Promotion category, Mr. Kim Chang-dong, was recognized as a leader in local agriculture for his contributions to establishing a farming foundation, operating the cabbage and potato farming groups in Miro-myeon, which helped increase farmers’ income, and serving as the representative of Miro Duta Rural Experience and Recreation Village, thereby enhancing the value of rural areas.

The recipient of the Livestock Promotion category, Mr. Kim Kwang-su, was acknowledged for recently hosting the National Beekeepers’ Day event in Samcheok, actively attempting diversification of the beekeeping industry in response to environmental changes, and his efforts as the president of the Beekeeping Association to improve the rights and interests of beekeepers.

The recipient of the Forestry Promotion category, Mr. Baek Dong-hyun, achieved significant results by expanding the cultivation of forest products and increasing forestry household income through distribution in Yeo-sam-ri farming group in Nogok-myeon, including large-scale delivery of gondre (wild vegetables). He also contributed to community development by maintaining a model attitude and actively communicating with forestry workers.

The recipient of the Fisheries Promotion category, Mr. Kim Tae-seon, was recognized for his contributions to the development of the fisheries industry and selection of business projects, leading efforts to transfer fishing techniques and experience to new fishers, protecting fishers from various natural disasters, and actively participating in marine cleanup activities, thereby contributing to the advancement of fisheries promotion in Samcheok City.

A Samcheok City official stated, “We congratulate the four recipients of the 2024 Samcheok City Agricultural, Forestry, and Fisheries Workers Award,” and added, “The awards will be officially presented at the 29th Farmers’ Day event on November 8.”
