Dongjak-gu, Residents' Long-Awaited Project 'New Left Turn Installation in Front of Sa-dang 2-dong Gaetmaeul'

"Expecting Smoother Exits in the Direction of Olympic-daero"

Dongjak-gu, Seoul (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced on the 6th that it has established a new left-turn signal at Gaetmaeul Front to alleviate traffic inconvenience for local residents and create a safer traffic environment.

At this location, there were no U-turn or left-turn signals, forcing residents to detour via surrounding roads to enter the Olympic-daero direction, which caused continuous congestion and disrupted smooth vehicle flow.

Dongjak-gu, Residents' Long-Awaited Project 'New Left Turn Installation in Front of Sa-dang 2-dong Gaetmaeul' Park Il-ha, Mayor of Dongjak District, is giving a greeting speech at the opening ceremony of the 'Left Turn in Front of Gaetmaeul' on the 5th. Provided by Dongjak District.

Accordingly, since last year, the district conducted traffic analysis and basic design, and through continuous consultations including joint on-site meetings with related organizations such as Seoul City and the Police Agency, as well as resident meetings, actively promoted the installation of the left-turn signal. As a result, it passed the regulatory review by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency in April this year.

Subsequently, with a total investment of 400 million KRW from district and city funds, the construction of the new left-turn signal at Gaetmaeul was completed on the 5th, followed by an opening ceremony. The district expects that this new left-turn signal will help improve the unreasonable entry system at Isu Intersection and enhance traffic convenience for residents.

Meanwhile, in November last year, the district invested a total of 200 million KRW in construction costs to repair and maintain the Gaetmaeul underground passage, which allows passage through the road severed by Subway Line 4, and newly opened it.

Mayor Park Il-ha said, “I am very pleased that the long-awaited project by residents, the installation of the left-turn signal at Gaetmaeul Front, has been successfully completed,” and added, “We will continue to swiftly resolve residents’ daily inconveniences through proactive administration to make Dongjak-gu a better place to live.”
