Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Ju Gwang-deok) announced on the 5th that it conducted a total of three sessions of child rights respect education to prevent child abuse for about 400 childcare staff members at local daycare centers from October to November, both in-person and online.
This education was prepared to strengthen childcare attitudes that respect children's rights, prevent child abuse, and create a safe childcare environment.
The education content included △Understanding children and their rights △Creating daycare centers where children's rights are realized △Commitments of staff to realize children's rights △Q&A on ambiguous child abuse issues.
A childcare teacher who participated in the education said, “I was able to specifically understand the role of teachers who respect children's rights, and based on this, I gained confidence to create a classroom that practices children's rights.”
The director of the Namyangju Childcare Support Center, who promoted this education, stated, “We expect that the awareness and sensitivity of childcare staff regarding respect for children's rights have increased through this education,” and added, “We will continue to support various programs to strengthen the capabilities of childcare staff.”
The city plans to continuously operate capacity-building programs for staff to prevent child abuse and create a safe childcare environment.
