‘Fertilizing My Tree’ is a citizen participation park green space program conducted to help the growth of king cherry trees that citizens lovingly planted and personally tagged with nicknames along the cherry blossom path at Misa Lake Park in 2023 and 2024.

Previously, Hanam City held a name-tagging event for about 600 king cherry trees around the lake area of Misa Lake Park together with citizens, and since then, there have been numerous inquiries about whether the trees with the nicknames given by citizens are growing well.

Hanam City planned this ‘Fertilizing My Tree’ event, inspired by the great interest shown by citizens who asked how to help the growth of the king cherry trees.

On the day of the event, participating citizens removed surrounding weeds and supplied stick fertilizers to help their trees with nicknames grow vigorously by enabling them to absorb nutrients quickly.

They also applied wood chips as mulching material to the soil to prevent erosion and suppress weed growth, directly practicing tree care methods with their families and commemorating the moment with photos, spending a meaningful time.

A citizen who participated in the event said, “I am very proud to be able to participate in fertilizing work that helps the growth of our family tree,” and added, “I hope the king cherry tree, nurtured with love and care, grows well and blooms beautiful flower buds on its branches next spring.”

Mayor Lee Hyun-jae said, “I hope citizens will develop a greater attachment to Misa Lake Park through this event and visit more often,” and added, “Our city will continue to strive to make the park a space where citizens feel they can cultivate and decorate it like their own garden.”
