Encouraging Students Active as Mentors for At-Risk Youth in Busan Area
On November 4th at 7 p.m., the National Pukyong National University (Acting President Lee Min-hee) held the 'PKNU Student Volunteer Group Invitation Lecture' in the main conference room of the Environmental Marine Hall.
On this day, Cheon Jong-ho, a chief judge of the Busan District Court known as the 'Strict Judge,' gave a lecture titled 'About the Boys I Have Met.' Approximately 100 people, including students from the PKNU Student Volunteer Group and faculty members, attended the lecture.
Judge Cheon explained school violence and juvenile offenders to the volunteer students who serve as university student mentors for local protected youth, emphasizing the role of the Youth Recovery Center and the importance of preventing juvenile delinquency.
In particular, he encouraged the students by introducing activities such as the 'Youth Hope Ladder PKNU Guardians,' which have been jointly conducted by 'Mansasonyeon,' a support organization for the Youth Recovery Center founded by Judge Cheon, and the National Pukyong University volunteer group.
Since 2021, the volunteer group has been conducting PKNU Guardian activities, supporting the healthy growth of local protected youth and helping them become independent in society through dream and talent development (experiences), Eoullim DAY (sports), and Eoullim mentoring (counseling) activities.
