Gyeonggi-do to Host Nation's First 'Volunteer Manager Conference' on the 5th

Gyeonggi Province held the Gyeonggi Volunteer Manager Conference "Together Value" on the 5th at the Suwon Convention Center to commemorate the "Gyeonggi Volunteer Manager Day" (November 5), the first of its kind designated nationwide.

The event was attended by about 300 volunteer managers from Gyeonggi Province and served as a time to emphasize the importance of volunteer activities and share each other's experiences.

Gyeonggi Province held a commemorative ceremony honoring the efforts of the managers and awarded commendations from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province to 20 outstanding managers and plaques of merit to 5 long-serving managers.

Side events included a congratulatory message tree for the establishment of Manager's Day, a carbon neutrality-themed experience, and a harmony gathering.

Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, congratulated the "Volunteer Manager Day," the first designated nationwide, through a video message, saying, "I pay tribute to the volunteer managers who warmly illuminate our society and create new hope. I hope today will be a time to remember each other's hard work and dedication and share gratitude."

Kim Jin-kyung, Chairperson of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, said in a video congratulatory message, "In an increasingly fragmented social atmosphere, volunteering is an important force that connects our community," adding, "The newly established 'Volunteer Manager Day' through the revision of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council ordinance will be an important milestone that institutionally highlights your dedication beyond contributions to the local community."

Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Provincial Council revised the "Gyeonggi Volunteer Activity Support Ordinance" last July to raise awareness of the importance of volunteer managers and activate volunteer activities in the province, and designated November 5, which is recognized as "International Volunteer Manager Day" in 16 countries worldwide, as "Gyeonggi Volunteer Manager Day."
