The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters held the "62nd Firefighters' Day Commemoration Ceremony and the 2nd Gyeonggi Firefighters Arts Festival" on the 4th at the Teleconvention Center of Gyeonggi University in Suwon, ahead of Firefighters' Day (November 9).
The event was attended by about 1,200 people, including guests such as Im Sang-o, Chair of the Safety and Administration Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, provincial council members, heads of various firefighting organizations, and families of Gyeonggi firefighters.
The first part of the event, the "62nd Firefighters' Day Commemoration Ceremony," featured a video presentation of the major achievements of Gyeonggi firefighting efforts this year, followed by an awards ceremony recognizing contributors to firefighting development.
Four individuals, including Park Jong-won, President of the Korea Fire Industry Association, received commendations from the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, and two individuals, including Hyun Jung-soo, Fire Captain of Osan Fire Station, received commendations from the Chair of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.
The second part, the "2nd Gyeonggi Firefighters Arts Festival," began with a special performance by a b-boy firefighter (Fire Sergeant Baek Seung-gu of Gwangju Fire Station). Twelve teams that passed the preliminary round, composed of firefighters and volunteer firefighters’ arts clubs from various firefighting agencies, performed choral singing, dance, puppet shows, samulnori (traditional Korean percussion quartet), and other talents they had kept hidden until now.
Based on combined judging by on-site judges and audience mobile voting, the Pyeongtaek Fire Station team "Hwimori119," which delivered an exciting samulnori performance, won the prestigious Grand Prize.

Additionally, the event featured an exhibition of calligraphy works (hand-drawn pictorial letters) created directly by firefighters and set up a photo zone to commemorate Firefighters' Day, which received great enthusiasm from attendees.
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, encouraged in a written congratulatory message, "Firefighters are the public officials whom the people of Gyeonggi Province rely on and trust the most. This is because of the strong sense of duty and spirit of sacrifice of the Gyeonggi firefighting family, including volunteer firefighters. Gyeonggi Province will spare no support to ensure that firefighters can safely carry out their duties."
Jo Sun-ho, Head of the Gyeonggi Fire and Disaster Headquarters, said, "Firefighters' Day is a meaningful day to honor the sweat and dedication firefighters have poured into protecting the lives and property of the people, and to reflect on our sense of mission and renew our determination. We promise to continue providing dignified firefighting and high-quality firefighting services for the safety and happiness of the residents."
