Expectations for Improved Traffic Conditions During Commute Hours

According to Paju City on the 5th, the intersection in front of Sannae Village Complex 9 lacked a dedicated right-turn lane, causing frequent traffic jams during rush hours as straight-going and right-turning vehicles mixed, resulting in significant inconvenience for residents.
This project involved relocating the existing pedestrian walkway and bicycle path about 3 meters to the right (Mokdong-dong 953) and expanding and constructing one acceleration and deceleration lane over a 166-meter section within the intersection where congestion was most severe. This allows right-turning vehicles to safely reduce speed and exit onto surrounding roads without disrupting the flow of straight-going traffic.
Paju City expects that with the completion of this project, which was funded with 220 million KRW of city budget and finished on the 31st of last month, the inconvenience caused by habitual traffic congestion will be greatly reduced.
Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju City, stated, “We will strive to create a safe and pleasant traffic environment that citizens can feel by analyzing habitual congestion zones during rush hours and improving road structures.”
