Providing Standard Education in Global Sports Science
Leading the Advancement of Healthcare and Sports Fields
Dongseo University (President Jang Je-guk) Department of Exercise Prescription and Department of Senior Exercise Prescription have established the first ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) official certified education center in Busan and Gyeongnam.

This center provides education based on global sports medicine standards through a tripartite agreement with the ACSM Authorized Representative in Korea, and is expected to lead the development of healthcare and sports fields.
Founded in 1954, ACSM is the world's largest sports medicine organization, providing international standards in the fields of sports medicine and exercise prescription. Active in over 90 countries, ACSM is recognized in health, fitness, and rehabilitation based on trusted research and information, contributing to the advancement of the healthcare industry through education and certification aligned with global standards.
Dongseo University operates the only ACSM Personal Trainer Certification (ACSM-PFT) training course in Busan and Gyeongnam, educating students with practical skills that meet international sports medicine standards.
In particular, the university focuses on practical education to train experts who can provide customized exercise programs for various groups, including disease prevention and rehabilitation sports for cancer patients, as well as for infants and the elderly.
Additionally, Dongseo University collaborates with the Busan City Health Center and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation to dispatch exercise prescribers and trainers to the local community, contributing to the improvement of residents' health.
Choi Hyun-hee, head of the Department of Exercise Prescription at Dongseo University, said, “The establishment of the ACSM certified center is an important step for Dongseo University to cultivate international sports medicine talents,” adding, “We will continue to strive to nurture talents needed in the healthcare field.”
Dongseo University plans to continue producing exercise experts who meet global standards and contribute to the development of the local community and the nation.
