Establishment of a Safety Management System Tailored to Advanced Robot-Friendly Buildings
Naver announced on the 5th that it received the Presidential Award in the Excellent Company category at the '23rd Korea Safety Awards' hosted by the National Fire Agency.
The Korea Safety Awards is the most prestigious award in the domestic safety field, given to companies that have led safety management. Naver's 1784, its second office building completed in 2022, became the first smart building to receive the highest award, the Presidential Award. It was also the first case for a private office building.
This award recognizes Naver's optimized safety management system for smart buildings, making it the only internet platform company to receive the Presidential Award. Naver continuously established a safety system tailored to the unique characteristics of its robot-friendly building, which integrates advanced technologies such as self-developed digital twin, robots, artificial intelligence (AI), and cloud.
Inside 1784, about 100 service robots called 'Rookie' are deployed. In case of an emergency, they automatically switch to fire mode and guide evacuation. Through AI and cloud systems linked with the building infrastructure, disaster situations can be quickly communicated and evacuation supported. During the fire evacuation drill at 1784 held last May on 'Disaster Prevention Day,' Rookie informed the fire situation on the full display based on linked building information.
Since the completion of 1784, Naver has systematized spatial safety management by establishing a total of 21 spatial safety manuals and guidelines over three years. More than 6,000 emergency response kits, including smoke masks, are provided at every seat in the building, and dedicated fire extinguishing equipment to prevent the spread of electric vehicle fires is also installed.
Noh Se-gwan, CEO of Naver I&S, said, "This award is a meaningful achievement as it is the first case where Naver successfully integrated a safety system into a robot-friendly building," adding, "As interest in smart buildings grows, we will lead the technology of future spaces to be created, including safety systems."
