No Evidence of Alcohol or Drug Use Detected
A foreign woman who unlawfully entered the departure area of Incheon International Airport and was stopped by a security screening officer was arrested by the police after assaulting the airport staff.
According to Yonhap News on the 4th, the Incheon Airport Police Unit booked a woman in her 20s with Japanese nationality, identified as A, without detention on charges of violating the Aviation Security Act. A is accused of assaulting a female security screening officer in her 40s, B, at the departure area of Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport at around 1:38 p.m. on the 1st.
At the time, A reportedly attempted to enter without authorization after her passport was not recognized by the entrance terminal, and was stopped by B. It is understood that she pushed away B’s arm that was blocking her and struck B’s face with her hand.
The police booked A on the day of the incident and investigated her, but there were no indications of alcohol or drug use. After the investigation, A reportedly departed for Japan. The police are expected to send the case to the prosecution soon.
Meanwhile, under the current Aviation Security Act, assaulting or obstructing security screening officers at the airport can result in imprisonment for up to five years or a fine of up to 50 million won.
