Gwangju City and KEPCO to Hold Event at Kim Dae-jung Center from 6th to 8th
Gwangju City announced on the 4th that the ‘BIXPO (BIXPO·Bitgaram International Electric Power Technology Expo) 2024,’ where new energy technologies and new businesses can be seen all in one place, will be held for three days from the 6th to the 8th at the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center area.
BIXPO is hosted by Korea Electric Power Corporation and sponsored by Gwangju City. This year’s event, themed ‘Journey Toward the Future of Energy,’ will feature various programs including a new technology exhibition, international academic conference, international invention and patent fair, and new technology unveiling (BIXPO UNPACKED).
About 150 participants including global companies such as LS Electric, HD Hyundai Electric, Hitachi Energy, IBM, as well as major unicorn startups, universities, and research institutes will take part. Additionally, 40 academic conference sessions will be held to discuss global issues and energy research and development (R&D) and development plans in industry, academia, and research sectors.
Notably, for the first time in BIXPO history, a ‘New Technology Unveiling’ event will be held. Leading domestic and international energy technology companies will participate in large numbers to showcase cutting-edge new energy technologies and products for the first time.
The opening ceremony on the 6th will be attended by key domestic and international figures including Choi Nam-ho, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Kim Dong-chul, President of KEPCO, and Jo Kopps, Chair of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). The ceremony will include keynote speeches, vision declarations, ceremonies, and commemorative photo sessions.
For domestic and international buyers visiting BIXPO, investment conditions and sales information for the Gwangju Free Economic Zone including the Smart Energy Industrial Complex, corporate support, fund investment, and other energy industry promotion plans and investment consultations will also be provided.
Lee Sang-gap, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Economy of Gwangju City, said, “We have done our best in preparing and supporting the event to provide various attractions and enjoyable experiences for domestic and international visitors to Gwangju,” adding, “We expect BIXPO to be a great opportunity to widely promote Gwangju’s leading energy policies, acquire the latest energy technologies, and form human and material networks.”
