Operating on weekends and holidays until December 15... Organized into 10 teams and 5 groups
Real-time wildfire monitoring, communication with related agencies to prevent wildfires and minimize damage
Comprehensive inspection of wildfire prevention facilities and maintenance of unmanned surveillance cameras and other equipment completed
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) has established a Wildfire Prevention Countermeasures Headquarters and begun full-scale operations in response to the autumn wildfire caution period (November 1 to December 15).
Gwangjin-gu has been steadily implementing seasonal and timely customized measures to prevent wildfires, with no wildfire occurrences recorded in the past three years. The newly formed Wildfire Prevention Countermeasures Headquarters is organized into 10 teams and 5 squads, led by the Director of the Parks and Greenery Division as the overall team leader, and will operate without exception on weekends and public holidays until December 15.
The main duties include ▲ real-time wildfire situation monitoring ▲ rapid situation reporting and communication with related agencies ▲ initial firefighting and monitoring for flare-ups ▲ preventive activities in wildfire-prone areas. Gwangjin-gu plans to minimize wildfire damage through both prevention and systematic initial response in case of emergencies.
To further enhance wildfire prevention effectiveness, Gwangjin-gu has maintained various systems and equipment. Wildfire prevention facilities and firefighting equipment were thoroughly inspected, and additional surveillance facilities were installed in wildfire-vulnerable areas.
Additionally, to eliminate blind spots in wildfire monitoring, unmanned surveillance cameras were newly installed at three locations including the east side of Goguryeojeong, and existing cameras were replaced with high-resolution models.
In particular, the aging rubber water supply pipes of the surface-type extinguishing facility located near the summit of Achasan were replaced with carbon steel pipes, and the spraying range was extended from the previous 670 meters to 720 meters, establishing a firefighting system that enables faster and safer extinguishing in the event of a wildfire.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, stated, “We have established a more thorough preparedness system so that all residents can enjoy autumn without worrying about wildfires,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to create a safe Gwangjin-gu free from wildfire disasters through ongoing system management and close cooperation with related agencies.”
Gwangjin-gu is actively promoting wildfire prevention behavior guidelines to hikers by utilizing advanced technologies such as unmanned aerial drones and black boxes.
