The city of Guri, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 4th that it will operate the 'November Healthy Family Healthy Lifestyle Practice Challenge' titled 'Walk 110,000 Steps and Check Fluoride Content in Toothpaste.'
This challenge, designed to encourage healthy oral care habits such as preventing cavities through the use of toothpaste containing an appropriate recommended amount of fluoride, will be held for 15 days from the 5th to the 19th via the WalkOn app.
According to the 'Oral Examination Dentist Consultation Manual' published in 2022 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, using toothpaste containing 1000~1500 ppm fluoride from infancy is safe and highly effective in preventing cavities.
Accordingly, the city plans to actively encourage citizens to use fluoride-containing toothpaste through this challenge to maintain healthy teeth for a long time and to acquire proper oral care methods.
To participate in the challenge, install the WalkOn app, join the 'Enjoyable Walking, Happier Healthy Life' community, achieve 110,000 steps during the challenge period, then verify the fluoride content of the toothpaste you use and upload a certification photo on the challenge board.
Any Guri citizen can participate, and 100 participants who complete the challenge will be selected by lottery to receive mobile coupons.
Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri said, “I ask everyone to consistently practice healthy lifestyle habits with your precious family,” and added, “We will continue to operate various enjoyable and beneficial physical and mental vitality programs in a substantial manner.”
