June 6-7 at BEXCO, Jointly Hosted by Busan City, Korea Housing Finance Corporation, and National Intelligence Service Branch
Strengthening Cyber Threat Response Capabilities and Supporting the Revitalization of the Information Security Industry in Busan Region
Busan City will hold the "2024 Busan Cybersecurity Conference" under the theme "Safe Cyberspace, Busan is Good" for two days on the 6th and 7th at BEXCO Exhibition Hall 2.
The event is co-hosted by the city, Korea Housing Finance Corporation, and the National Intelligence Service branch, and jointly organized by the Korea Institute of Information Security & Cryptology, Yeongnam Regional Information Security Talent Education Center, and Busan Regional Information Security Talent Education Center.
This event was prepared to strengthen the response capabilities against cyber threats and support the revitalization of the information security industry in the Busan area.
With the rapid spread of applied information technology (IT), including the emergence of generative artificial intelligence (AI), and the increase in national security threats such as North Korea's cyberterrorism, the public, private, and academic sectors will seek ways to strengthen regional cybersecurity capabilities.
This year’s conference will feature 16 lectures on four topics, an exhibition hall showcasing technologies (products) from information security companies and public institutions, a hacking experience zone, a digital experience center, and various exhibitions, experiences, and side events.
On the first day (6th), the program begins with a keynote speech titled "The Complex Geopolitics of Cybersecurity: Seeking Future National Strategies" by Kim Sang-bae, president of the Korea Cybersecurity Association and professor at Seoul National University, followed by four lectures on the theme of "Cybersecurity." Side events include a technology and recruitment briefing session for information security companies and a briefing session on public institutions’ informatization projects for 2025.
On the second day (7th), there will be four expert lectures aimed at strengthening cyber incident response capabilities for security officers from local governments and public institutions, three lectures on major issues in the finance sector, and four lectures on maritime security, both specialized for the Busan region. A side event will feature the 2024 Fall Academic Paper Presentation of the Yeongnam Branch of the Korea Institute of Information Security & Cryptology.
Detailed information about this event can be found on the official website, and participation can be registered online in advance through the website by the 4th or on-site on the day of the event.
Lee Jun-seung, Busan City Deputy Mayor, said, "With the emergence and widespread adoption of generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT, Bard, and Bing, and the rapid changes in applied technologies utilizing them, cybersecurity threats are increasing day by day." He added, "In line with these changes, the 'Cybersecurity Conference' aims to strengthen cooperation among the private sector, public institutions, and academia and become a venue for sharing the latest cybersecurity information and technologies and exploring ways to respond to cyber threats."
