The Namyangju Public Health Center in Gyeonggi Province (Director Jeong Tae-sik) announced on the 1st that it received the Minister of Health and Welfare Institutional Award at the 19th Pregnant Women’s Day on the 31st of last month, recognizing its contribution to spreading a culture of consideration for pregnant women and creating a birth-friendly environment.
Namyangju City, actively aligning with national policies related to pregnancy and childbirth to respond to low birth rates and create a birth-friendly environment, newly launched a newlywed couple health checkup program and a breast pump rental service as its own projects this year.
The newlywed couple health checkup program was established to help prevent infertility and support healthy pregnancy preparation for prospective childbirth households by early detection of high-risk factors related to pregnancy and childbirth.
Additionally, the breast pump rental service is conducted to reduce the economic burden on childbirth families, improve newborn immunity through breastfeeding, and promote postpartum recovery for mothers.
Along with this, the city has been continuously promoting pregnancy and childbirth support policies to increase citizen satisfaction, such as increasing childbirth incentives and postpartum care cost support projects, which are campaign promises of the 8th local government administration.
Director Jeong Tae-sik said, “This award is the result of recognition for our city’s continuous interest and efforts in pregnancy and childbirth policies,” and added, “We will continue to actively implement various policies to create a considerate, healthy, and safe pregnancy and childbirth environment for pregnant women.”
