"Looking into the Joseon Royal Family"... Jeonju Eojin Museum 'Renovated'

Opening Ceremony Celebrating the Reopening Welcoming Citizens and Tourists on the 1st

The 'Eojin Museum' located in Gyeonggijeon within Jeonju Hanok Village, Jeonbuk, has completed its renovation and is now welcoming citizens and tourists.

On the 1st, Jeonju City in Jeonbuk held a reopening ceremony at the Eojin Museum attended by Mayor Woo Beom-gi, Nam Gwan-woo, Chairperson of the Jeonju City Council, city council members, members of the museum operation committee, citizens, and tourists.

The event, which opened with a congratulatory performance by the Jeonju Municipal Gugak Orchestra, proceeded in the order of the national anthem, progress report, commemorative speeches and congratulatory remarks, ribbon cutting, and a tour of the museum facilities.

The Eojin Museum was originally opened on November 6, 2010, to permanently preserve the only national treasure No. 317, the Taejo Eojin, along with Gyeonggijeon and relics related to Jokyeongmyo, commemorating the 600th anniversary of enshrining the Taejo Eojin.

The city has been carrying out expansion construction and interior facility maintenance for over two years. It expanded the insufficient rest facilities for visitors in the existing museum and created an exhibition environment befitting the relics by moving the six enshrined Eojin from the basement to the ground floor.

With this expansion, the ground floor, which previously only housed the Taejo Eojin Room, now includes the Eojin Room, a lounge, and a nursing room. The Eojin Room space that was in the basement has been transformed into an open plaza for educational and cultural events and rental exhibitions.

Mayor Woo Beom-gi of Jeonju said, "I hope many people visit the newly renovated Eojin Museum, which has been carefully refurbished over a long period," adding, "I expect this to be an opportunity for more people to easily access Jeonju’s representative cultural heritage and to deeply reflect on the culture of the Joseon royal family."
