Preparation for Electric Vehicle Fire Safety
Yangju City is conducting a full survey of electric vehicle charging facilities and fire safety equipment (sprinklers) in 122 apartment complexes within the jurisdiction. Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 1st that it will conduct a comprehensive survey of electric vehicle charging facilities and fire-fighting facilities (sprinklers) in 122 apartment complexes within the city to alleviate citizens' concerns about electric vehicle fires and create a safe residential environment.
This survey will focus mainly on apartments with electric vehicle charging facilities installed underground, with an emphasis on the status of charging facilities and whether sprinklers automatically activate. If any abnormalities are found, the relevant information will be handed over to the Yangju Fire Station.
The survey period is from the 4th to the 15th of this month. Ten employees from the Yangju City Climate Energy Division will participate, organized into five teams.
Meanwhile, prior to the survey, the city distributed government measures and fire response guidelines for electric vehicle fire preparedness to apartment complexes and also conducted joint inspections of underground electric vehicle charging facilities in apartments.
A city official stated, “Through this comprehensive survey, we expect to secure the safety of fire-fighting facilities to enable rapid initial suppression in case of electric vehicle fires and contribute to creating an environment where citizens can live with peace of mind.”
