Gyeongbuk Development Corporation Volunteers to Install Solar-Powered LED Wall Lights on Ulleungdo... Gyeongbuk Provincial Council Member Nam Jin-bok Also Participates

Gyeongbuk Development Corporation (President Lee Jae-hyuk) carried out volunteer activities installing solar-powered LED wall lights in the villages of Dodong 1-ri and Dodong 2-ri, Ulleung-eup, Ulleung-gun on the 31st of last month. Twenty executives and employees of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation, including President Lee Jae-hyuk, and Nam Jin-bok, a Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly member from Ulleung, participated in the volunteer work.

On this day, the executives and employees of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation directly visited the residential areas of Dodong 1-ri and Dodong 2-ri villages and installed about 40 wall lights. The solar-powered LED wall lights are installed in residential areas without streetlights, charging solar energy during the day and operating at night, which is expected to improve the nighttime living environment in villages without streetlights and contribute to crime prevention and the elimination of safety blind spots.

The villages of Dodong 1-ri and 2-ri in Ulleung are densely populated areas where major public institutions, including the Ulleung County Office, are located. However, residents living in old houses on steep hills without streetlights have experienced significant inconvenience. On this day, the residents warmly welcomed the volunteers, saying, “Due to Ulleung Island’s terrain, there were many alleys and dark places, but with the installation of wall lights, the village has become brightly lit, making us feel safe even when walking at night.”

The solar-powered wall light installation volunteer activity is a representative social contribution project that Gyeongbuk Development Corporation has been conducting annually since 2019. In June, they conducted solar-powered wall light installation volunteer work in Hamchang-eup, Sangju-si, Gyeongbuk, and in October, in Ocheon-eup, Pohang.

Nam Jin-bok, a member of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly who participated in the volunteer work, said, “It is fortunate that the residents of Dodong 1 and 2-ri in Ulleung-eup can live in a bright and safe environment thanks to the installation of solar-powered wall lights,” adding, “I will continue to listen directly to the voices of our local residents and strive to create happy villages like today.”

Hearing that a kimchi refrigerator was needed in preparation for the upcoming kimchi-making season, they donated it to help the elderly. President Lee Jae-hyuk of Gyeongbuk Development Corporation stated, “We will continue to make steady efforts through various social contribution activities to create local conditions where residents can feel safe and comfortable.”
