Pocheon Hantan River Garden Festa Establishes Itself as a Leading Festival in the Seoul Metropolitan Area

Pocheon City held the "2024 Pocheon Hantangang Garden Festa" for seven weeks from September 13 to October 31 along the Hantangang River. Citizens are seen strolling near the Y-shaped suspension bridge.

Gyeonggi Pocheon City (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 1st that the '2024 Pocheon Hantan River Garden Festa,' held around the Hantan River for seven weeks from September 13 to October 31, successfully concluded, attracting 300,000 tourists.

The Hantan River Garden Festa has established itself as a representative festival of the Seoul metropolitan area by showcasing various experiential events and performances through Pocheon's natural tourism infrastructure, including the country's longest 410m Y-shaped suspension bridge, an 80,000-pyeong ecological landscape complex, and the UNESCO Global Geopark columnar jointing trail.

In particular, the Y-shaped suspension bridge gained popularity due to its unique structure and experiential elements, while the various flower gardens provided visitors with beautiful autumn scenery.

Additionally, eco-friendly electric bicycles for easier exploration of the spacious event area, a dog playground, food trucks, direct transaction markets, and various experiential programs captivated visitors' hearts.

Approximately 300,000 people visited the Garden Festa festival site, which is twice the population of Pocheon City. The city earned about 1.2 billion KRW in revenue from admission fees and other sources and contributed significantly to revitalizing the local economy by distributing about 500 million KRW worth of Pocheon Love Gift Certificates to tourists and others.

Moreover, the event also achieved promotional effects such as benchmarking by local governments nationwide, attracting group events, and media exposure.

Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “We express our gratitude to everyone who visited the Pocheon Hantan River Garden Festa. Now, the Pocheon Hantan River area has firmly established itself as a representative tourist destination in the Seoul metropolitan area,” and added, “Next year, we will activate Hantan River tourism by linking it with various tourism resources such as the World Drone Festival and the Livestock Festival.”
