Starting a 3-Year Term from January Next Year
Lawyers Lee Young-hee and Kim Do-hyung Elected as Co-CEOs in Charge of Management
Barun Law LLC announced on the 1st that attorney Lee Dong-hoon (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 23) has been elected as the next Chief Executive Officer.
Attorney Lee will succeed CEO Park Jae-pil and begin a three-year term starting January next year. Two managing partners to assist the CEO were also elected: attorney Lee Young-hee (class 29) and attorney Kim Do-hyung (class 34).
New CEO Lee Dong-hoon graduated from Korea University Law School and passed the 33rd Judicial Examination in 1991. He was appointed as a judge at Daejeon District Court, served as a judge at Seoul Central District Court and Seoul High Court, and as a judicial research judge at the Supreme Court. After serving as chief judge at Busan District Court and Suwon District Court, he joined Barun in 2014. Since 2019, he has served as a managing partner, leading the 'Barun EP Center,' which handles asset management for high-net-worth individuals and corporate succession.
CEO Lee stated, "With the new management team, we will strengthen the firm's expertise and enhance competitiveness across various legal service areas, including litigation. We aim to establish ourselves as a major law firm providing practical solutions in a changing business environment, including digital transformation and ESG."
Managing Partner Lee Young-hee graduated from Ewha Womans University Law School in 1994 and passed the 39th Judicial Examination. She joined Barun as part of the first new recruit class in 2000 and became a managing partner in 2022, recently receiving reappointment. From 2001 to 2002, she served as a special investigator for the Lee Yong-ho Gate case and mainly handles personnel and labor, construction (redevelopment, reconstruction, and the Act on Collective Buildings), and family law cases.
Managing Partner Kim Do-hyung graduated from Korea University Law School and passed the 44th Judicial Examination. He joined Barun Law LLC in 2008 and, after extensive experience in civil and criminal litigation, has specialized in financial, capital markets, and insurance-related litigation and advisory work. Kim has handled major cases such as the Shinhan Bank incident, KIKO lawsuits, damages lawsuits related to the delisting of China Gaosom, and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering accounting fraud lawsuits. He served as head of the financial group and has participated in company management as a Barun Law LLC operating committee member since 2022.
Along with the election of the next executive team, Barun also restructured its operating committee. In addition to attorneys Lee Dong-hoon, Lee Young-hee, and Kim Do-hyung, attorneys Lee Eung-se (class 17), Kim Byung-il (class 33), Choi Moon-gi (class 33), and Choi Jae-woong (class 38) were elected as operating committee members.
Barun elects seven operating committee members to lead management through votes by all partner attorneys, and from these seven, three managing partners are selected. The term is three years, with the possibility of reappointment.
