Former Korean Representative of the Catholic University Council
Professor Choi Jun-gyu, an education scholar, has been appointed as the new president of Catholic University.
The Catholic Foundation held a board meeting on the 31st of last month and appointed Professor Choi as the 9th president of Catholic University. His term will be four years, starting from January 1, 2025.

Ordained as a priest in 1991, the new president Choi graduated from the Department of Theology at Catholic University and earned a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from The Catholic University of America. Since 2004, he has held key positions within the university, including Director of the University Development Promotion Team, Director of the Chaplaincy Office, Dean of the Graduate School of Cultural Spirituality, and Director of the Lifelong Education Center.
In addition, he has served as the Korean representative to the Federation of Asian Catholic Universities, president of the Korean Society for Spiritual Culture, president of the Korean Society for Religious Education, coordinator for the Seoul Catholic Professors Association of the Archdiocese of Seoul, and secretary-general of the Education Committee of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Korea.
