Chuncheon City to Host Bio and Startup Expo Simultaneously for 3 Days Starting from the 6th

Joint Policy Meeting for Bio-Specialized Complexes with Participation from 5 Metropolitan Local Governments

Chuncheon City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Yuk Dong-han) announced on the 1st that from the 6th to the 8th, the ‘2024 Gangwon Bio Expo & 2nd Chuncheon Startup Expo’ will be held at the Songam Sports Town Inline Skate Rink.

Hosted by Chuncheon City and Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, this event is linked to the ‘2024 Korea Local Era Expo’ and is expected to attract visitors from all over the country.

In particular, by jointly hosting the two events that were previously held separately, it is expected to promote Chuncheon’s proud bio-industry and startup ecosystem nationwide, thereby creating new momentum for regional industrial development.

Chuncheon City has prepared various programs under the slogan ‘A New Resonance and Harmony of Gangwon Bio,’ including 80 corporate exhibition halls, a joint policy hall for bio-specialized complexes participated by 5 metropolitan local governments, a local brand festa, startup forums, and job fairs.

Especially, to encourage participation from companies and citizens and maximize visitor satisfaction, various citizen participation programs will be operated such as KidZania GO, citizen crowdfunding, special lectures featuring YouTuber Gwedo and Yak, a children’s drawing contest, image making and personal color diagnosis. Additionally, discounts linked with nearby tourist attractions such as Legoland and Samaksan Cable Car will be offered.

Mayor Yuk Dong-han of Chuncheon said, “The background of Chuncheon’s development of the bio-industry over the past 26 years lies in the foresight of previous administrators and the bold entrepreneurial spirit of startup founders,” adding, “Going forward, Chuncheon City will actively encourage startups and support corporate growth to establish a virtuous cycle ecosystem for the development of the region’s advanced bio-industry.”
