Lee Jae-myung "Government's Reckless State Administration... Deployment Decision Must Receive National Assembly Approval"

"Seems desperate for war"
"Who would invest with high South-North tensions"

Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, targeted the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, saying, "The state administration is reckless" and "It is composed of criminal acts and violations of the law."

On the morning of the 1st, at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Lee said, "Until now, we were worried that war might break out, but now we are worried that war might be provoked." He continued, "Even though it is not enough to do our best to take care of the people's lives on the ground, how can they worry about 'how to use the Ukraine war to escalate tensions on the Korean Peninsula'?" and claimed, "It seems they are desperate because they cannot start a war." Furthermore, he added, "The whole world is trying to withdraw capital from the Korean Peninsula," and "Who would invest in the Republic of Korea when tensions between the South and the North are rising?"

He criticized the government’s plan to support lethal weapons and dispatch troops in the Russia-Ukraine war, saying, "It seems that a truly criminal state administration is taking place," and "It can only be described as a world of martial arts gangs." He also said, "The Constitution stipulates that when sending the armed forces (to another country), the consent of the National Assembly must be obtained," and "If they are sent while maintaining the command system, they clearly have the character of the military, so the consent of the National Assembly must be obtained." Furthermore, he said, "Because they are exporting military force, they must obtain consent," and "Who would interpret that the president can support weapons to other countries at his own discretion?"

Lee also opposed the dispatch team that the National Intelligence Service is considering to interrogate North Korean prisoners of war. He said, "Why should our country interfere and take over the interrogation of prisoners of war captured in another country?" and "According to the Geneva Convention, prisoners of war cannot be interrogated by a third country." He then emphasized, "Even after pointing out this absurd claim, they continue, which seems consistent," and "Isn't it an illegal state administration that laws and treaties are considered unnecessary?"
