Wonju City, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Mayor Won Gang-su), announced on the 1st that it will hold a limited opening event for Wonju's hidden tourist attraction, "Chiaksan Seonghwangrim," in line with the Korea Tourism Organization's November "Traveling Autumn Campaign" aimed at revitalizing local tourism through domestic travel in autumn.

Wonju City, Limited Opening of Natural Monument 'Chiaksan Seonghwang Forest'

Seonghwangrim, Natural Monument No. 93, is a representative temperate deciduous forest home to over 1,500 trees of about 90 species, as well as more than 70 species of small trees and various plants such as Hepatica and Adonis amurensis.

Since the late Joseon Dynasty, a Seonangdang shrine dedicated to the village guardian deity has been located here. Due to its high ecological and academic value, public access has been restricted, making this limited opening event even more meaningful.

The event will start at 2 p.m. on November 2nd (Saturday) and 16th (Saturday) from the Seonghwangrim Experience Village, featuring wellness meditation programs such as tractor carriage rides, forest interpretation, and performances of singing bowls and handpan.

Each date will accommodate 30 participants on a first-come, first-served reservation basis, with a participation fee of 6,000 KRW. For detailed information and reservations, please contact the Seonghwangrim Experience Village.
