The photo shows the exterior of Goseong-gun Office, Gangwon Province. The Youth Fishing Village Settlement Support Project aims to prevent the outflow of young people from fishing villages by supporting the stable settlement of young fishery entrepreneurs in the early stages of start-up, and to revitalize fishing villages by attracting excellent young talent.
Eligibility requires applicants to be between 18 and under 40 years old as of 2025 and to be actually residing in Goseong-gun according to their resident registration.
The support fund is provided to fishery operators with less than three years of fishery management experience (including prospective operators), differentiated by management experience: 1st year (1.1 million KRW per month), 2nd year (1 million KRW per month), and 3rd year (900,000 KRW per month) to cover operating expenses and household funds for fishing households.
Applicants wishing to apply should prepare the application form, start-up plan, fishery management registration, and other necessary documents and submit them in person at the Goseong-gun Office by November 20. Further details can be found on the county office website.
A Goseong-gun official stated, “We hope this support project will provide practical help for young people’s stable life in fishing villages,” and added, “We plan to actively promote the project so that many young people can participate, revitalizing fishing areas and enhancing their competitiveness.”
