Former Short Track Skater Kim Dong-sung's Recent Update
Former short track speed skater Kim Dong-sung (44) was recently seen working at a construction site, cleaning up waste.
Kim Dong-sung's wife, In Min-jeong, posted a photo on Instagram on the 30th showing Kim cleaning at a construction site, writing, "Cleaning up waste. Sharing an update after a long time. Living like this. It feels like an ironic world." The photo showed Kim wearing a safety helmet, mask, and rubber gloves while cleaning the floor of a building.
In Min-jeong also uploaded a video of Kim scrubbing the floor with a brush, saying, "Manager Kim cleaning up poop and pee. The manager working alongside said, 'His style is like short track.'" She added, "Thank you so much for the support and encouragement from everyone around. No one knows how much pain he has overcome to live like this."
Kim Dong-sung married a non-celebrity woman in 2004 and had one son and one daughter, but they divorced in 2018. Later, in 2021, he remarried In Min-jeong, who appeared with him on TV Chosun's 'We Got Divorced' that same year in May. It is known that Kim currently supports himself by working as a day laborer at construction sites while also teaching skating.
Meanwhile, Kim Dong-sung was also involved in a controversy over unpaid child support. In 2020, his name was listed on the website 'Bad Fathers,' which publicly exposes individuals who fail to pay child support. Last year, he was sued by his ex-wife for violating the Act on the Guarantee of Child Support Enforcement. His ex-wife claimed that she had not received about 80 million won in child support from 2018 until October of last year. In response, Kim's side appealed to their financial hardship, stating, "Our debts exceed our income, so we are unable to pay child support."
