Domestic convenience store companies are launching Pepero collaboration products and goods to mark November 11. As this day, known as Pepero Day, is considered a major sales season for the convenience store industry, they appear to be preparing to attract consumers.
According to the distribution industry on the 31st, CU, a convenience store operated by BGF Retail, will introduce about 40 differentiated products collaborating with characters preferred by MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) customers to celebrate Pepero Day on the 11th of next month.
CU's representative products this year are 18 Pepero special edition items in collaboration with the globally popular character 'Rilakkuma.' When purchasing these products, customers receive items featuring the bear character Rilakkuma along with Pepero. The main products in the Rilakkuma collaboration lineup include eco bags (11,500 KRW), reusable bags (12,800 KRW), tote bags (14,500 KRW), and carriers (37,000 KRW). Additionally, special products featuring popular characters from the messenger emoticon shop, such as 'Gwakcheol-i' and 'Maltese & Retriever,' will also be released.
Discount events for customers preparing Pepero Day gifts will also be held. From November 1 to 10, QR payment discount promotions will take place. Customers can scan the Pepero Day discount QR code posted on the Pocket CU event page and pay using affiliated payment methods for each product. When purchasing three or more of the three general Pepero types and paying with BC, Woori Card, KB PAY, or Naver Pay Money, a 50% QR discount applies. For 33 special products and 7 character dolls, a 30% QR discount is available when paying with Kakao Pay Money or Toss Pay.

GS25 is releasing new Pepero products using its own characters. GS25, operated by GS Retail, will launch five Pepero types featuring its own character 'Mumu-ssi and Friends' to celebrate Pepero Day. GS25 is the first convenience store in the industry to introduce Pepero products using its own characters. Mumu-ssi is a character introduced by GS25 in May 2022, with additional characters unveiled last August.
They will also release collaboration products using external character intellectual property (IP). Popular character collaborations include ▲Cinnamoroll x Jjanggu ▲Minions ▲Bebe the Duck ▲Wicked ▲Tintin Tingle ▲Gaspard and Lisa ▲Jjanggu, among others. These special sets include items such as passport wallets, pouch keyrings, reusable bags, umbrellas, and laptop bags.
GS25 will also hold a 'Bbestival' (Pepero + Festival) promotion throughout November with discount events. For more than 20 days in November, customers purchasing Bbestival target products through the Our Neighborhood GS app will receive limited edition goods such as Mumu-ssi DIY keyrings and Big Slipper charms. From November 10 to 11, customers purchasing Pepero event products exclusively for delivery or pickup via the Our Neighborhood GS app and paying with Hyundai Card will receive a 5,000 KRW discount.
Other promotions include ▲buying two Pepero (chocolate, almond) and two Roche (T3, T5) products and receiving two additional items free ▲30% payback when paying for Mumu-ssi Pepero special sets with Kakao Pay, among others. Additionally, 114 types of snacks and chocolates other than Pepero will also be discounted.
Seven Eleven is launching collaboration products in the fashion and beauty sectors for Pepero Day. First, in partnership with the beauty brand Amuse, they are releasing four items: ▲Amuse handle pouch keyring set ▲Amuse transparent pouch keyring set ▲Amuse sticker set, among others. These products include Amuse's best-selling item 'Lip Puller,' along with stickers and keyrings, all packaged with Pepero. They also collaborated with illustrator Hattie Stewart to release pouches, eco bags, and other items alongside Pepero.
Emart24 is also releasing special products in collaboration with the character 'Cover Cat' from Mindaday. Additionally, until November 11, customers paying with event cards (BC, Woori, Samsung Card) will receive a '2+2' bonus, and the first 1,000 customers who purchase over 25,000 KRW will receive 'NewJeans goods.'
The convenience store industry's focus on special exhibitions and discount events for Pepero Day is due to increased sales of gift products during such commemorative seasons. According to CU, the sales proportion of White Day event products priced over 10,000 KRW increased significantly this year (52.6%) compared to last year (45.1%).
